Super Spellers hoping for success

At Manor Community Academy, we highly value spelling, punctuation and grammar and we understand that these vital skills affect all subjects and not just English! To that end, for the last few years we have been entering pupils for the Year 7 Spelling Bee Competition for French during which pupils learn to spell up to 100 words in French and say the spellings out loud, in French, in timed conditions! This year we have been delighted to open up the competition to our Y7 Hispanists too as part of our drive to encourage students to study two languages.

Following excellent performances in a whole year, then school final round, we are excited to announce that Emily Pickering, Emily Shuttleworth and William Wright will represent Manor Community Academy in the North East Languages Spelling Bee Regional Final to be held in April in Gateshead, spelling Spanish / French words. We wish our three Year 7s the very best and have our fingers crossed that at least one of our students makes it through to this year's national final! Bonne chance and buena suerte from all at Manor Community Academy!
