KS3 Computing

I think it's fair to say that personal computers have become the most empowering tool we've ever created. They're tools of communication, they're tools of creativity, and they can be shaped by their user.

Computing, offers all students, an opportunity to develop their capabilities in digital literacy, information technology and computer science. Computing allows students to transfer skills developed in our subject and apply them in other areas of the school curriculum.

Year 7

During Year 7 students will learn to collect and analyse data. They will undertake projects using a variety of programs and be able to demonstrate an understanding of computational thinking by solving logical problems and basic programming. They will also learn about safety awareness and responsibility when using the internet.

Year 8

In Year 8 students will build upon the work they covered in Year 7 on Networks, Binary and Algorithms. The students will develop their skills using Python and be introduced to a second programming language HTML.
