At Manor Community Academy, attendance to school is regarded as being very important and is a pre-requisite to enjoyment, achievement and success. We encourage all students to aim for 100% attendance to school.
From 1st September 2013 amendments to The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006 mean that Headteachers can no longer authorise student absence from school for holidays or extended leave except in exceptional circumstances. As such, there is no longer a threshold of ten school days for absence due to holiday and requests for holiday during term time will not be granted.
Please be aware that attendance of less than 90% is regarded as persistent absenteeism. Students who have attendance of 90% or less will be referred to the Local Authority Attendance Team who will work alongside young people and their families to support attendance to school. If student attendance does not improve, legal proceedings may be instigated and fixed term penalties may be issued.
